Name: Asher

Race: Demon

Age: 19 (human years. Much older in Demon)

Gender: Male

Personality: Asher is pretty much the opposite of an Angel. He tends to be the guy you would expect to start chaos that could be world ending. He’s pretty relaxed despite how much trouble he can stir up. Asher tends to go about things with a lazy air about him that has a slight undertone of trouble and mischief. Despite his trouble maker tendencies, he can be pretty curious. Beyond all that he’s a charming and persuasive guy who’s used to getting his way. Some could say he’s a cocky and proud guy as well.

Appearance: Asher stands at roughly 6’4 with ever so slightly grey skin. His eyes look human enough, just a dark maroon that looks like he’s got brown eyes. Along with all that he’s got fluffy black hair that goes over his eyes slightly and a pair of small horns that can be seen poking out his hair ever so slightly. Due to being from hell, his body is pretty warm and can withstand warmer temperatures. He’s typically seen wearing a t-shirt under a flannel paired with some darker colored jeans and tennis shoes.

Weaknesses:

-Kindness (you could almost say he’s allergic to it)

-Cold Places

Strengths:

-Persuasion

-Charm

-Warm places

Likes:

-Cats

-Warm Places

-Getting his way

Dislike:

-Dogs

-Cold Places

-When he doesn’t get what he wants

-When things don’t go the way he wanted them to

-Goody to shoes Angels

Other:

There’s just something that rubs on him weird that causes him to not like most angels, even if he gets curious about how they live quite often.

Iris sighed deeply, glancing around again. She was starting to get some weird looks from the humans, just standing there. It wouldn't have been much of a problem if she could find him. Honestly, it was her fault. She'd arrived late again and had missed most of the important details like where to meet, different rules, where to find things like clothes.
The street she was standing on was mostly empty except from a few parked cars and people wandering around. She wondered if they would get a car. There was a building next to her that said 'Grocery Store' in big, green letters. Iris was pretty sure that meant food. It would have to be put on the checklist of things for later. Right now, she had to find the demon she'd been assigned to watching.
Another woman shot her a strange side glance and hurried her child along. Standing alone didn't seem to be the problem, across the street a few people were stood there with the strange smoke things in their hands. What was it again - cigarettes?
Frowning, Iris looked down at her outfit. Was that the problem? She didn't choose it herself since she also missed the part about Earth customs and fashion. She'd been given a bright green and blue hoodie with jeans and red trainers. It wasn't her usual style in the slightest but the assistant said it was, and she quotes, "extremely fashionable and will help you blend in like a needle in a haystack." If only she was right. From the looks of things, and from the passersby, it clearly was not helping her blend in.
She looked around again. Was she even in the right place? If things got really desperate, she might even have to ask around. She was also starting to get hungry.
That's when she felt a slight buzz in her pocket. Surprised, Iris reached in and pulled it out. A phone - a device that humans used to communicate with one another. Intrigued, Iris tucked her hair behind her ear and gazed at the bright screen. Then she tapped it. Nothing. With a frown, she tapped again then swiped. Now that did something. The screen was now replaced with lots of small icons. The angel remembered something vaguely about how to use it. Something about calling? She knew what that icon looked like. Quickly, she tapped again and a small list of names came up. Small really just meant one.
'Demon'
It was definitely him. She made a mental note, not that it helped, to change it to his actual name later. For some reason, that wasn't included in the list of things to tell her.
Satisfied, Iris pressed the call button (that's what she thought it was anyway) and waited as her phone rang. Maybe humans were a lot smarter than given credit for.

Asher watched the angel girl from a significant distance, struggling with the phone and how to turn it on. He found it amusing and chuckled a little.

When he had arrived on “Earth” or whatever the angels had called it, it didn’t take long for him to adjust to the area. He had been there a couple times just to stir up some trouble. The normal heated politics, occasional moments in wars, causing panic at large concerts. He loved the concert ones, so many fond memories of those. His favorite memory though was probably implanting the idea of assasinating Archduke Ferdinand. He just wanted to see if the guys were brave enough to do, or so he told anyone that heard the story from him. It hadn’t taken Asher long to find a clothing store and grab a grey t-shirt, black jeans, black tennis shoes, and a black and red checkered flannel. He hadn’t bothered with a hat because it would either look weird or just not sit on his horns well at all.

As he watched, he felt a vibration from his back pocket where he ended up putting his phone. He pulled it out and noticed that the high and mighty angel counsel had put the angel girl in as angel. He let it ring for a little longer, as a smile slipped onto his face and he put his hand in one of his front pockets giving a relaxed impression to anyone walking by. After letting the phone ring a little, he answered it. “Yo. What’s up? I see you finally figured out how to get into the phone after struggling for a little while there.” He voice had a teasing tone to it as he spoke, a smirk replacing the smile that was previously there. As he waited, he decided to walk up to her and see how long it would take for her to notice him. Or something along those lines. He walked towards her, each step pretty quiet, before adjusting himself so he could walk right behind her. “At the very least, if she doesn’t sense or see me behind her, I can get a good scare out of her.” He thought to himself before making it seem like he magically appeared right behind her, with some distance between them. “I’ve just gotta say, that mighty counsel of yours really did you well! Now I won’t possibly be able to lose you! But you’ll be able to lose me, probably.” Asher said in a cocky voice, lowering his voice so she wouldn’t hear him just a couple feet behind her.

Gazing into a shop window, Iris jumped a little at the sudden voice of the demon. It was...not at all what she expected. Not rough, evil but more casual. Strange. I wonder what he looks like. To be honest, Iris had never seen a real demon herself so everything she knew about them came from the stories, rumours and pictures. Big horns? Sharp teeth, glowing eyes?
Iris flushed bright red at the demon's words, opening her mouth but nothing came out. Stiffening instantly, Iris looked across the street. Nope, not there. If he could see her then he was nearby, right? She thought for a moment then decided to just go along with it. Hopefully he would show up soon.
"I-I..." she stuttered before clearing her throat. "I wasn't struggling with the phone. It was actually very simple." Yet another passersby gave her a confused glance. At that point in time, Iris wished for nothing more than for the ground to open up and swallow her whole.
"Where are you?" she whispered urgently to the screen, bringing it closer to her face. Yikes, way too bright! Moving it a little further away, she continued with her short lecture as her eyes darted around the area for any sign of the demon. "We could get in serious trouble. You better not be messing with the humans!" She paused, eyes widening slightly. "You're wearing a hat, aren't you?" Her voice a squeak towards the end. Worry laced her voice. It hadn't even been a day and they could already mess things up. Then she heard a quiet scuffle from behind her. It was barely noticeable but still there. Iris' breath hitched. Was someone behind her? She'd heard about some of the human population, obviously influenced more by the demons, who kidnapped people or attacked them. Was it one of them behind her? The demon's voice came from the phone again.
"I don't stand out that much, do I?" She looked down. From her bright attire to her stiff posture, she couldn't have stood out more. But nevermind that. "The assistant said humans wear this kind of stuff all the time. There's no way you know more than them."
What could he be wearing? What's it- jeans? Maybe a jacket. Sunglasses seem quite popular, maybe not in this part though.
She heard another tiny sound - a voice? - and, without thinking, spun around to face them and threw the phone as hard as she could in their direction. It hit something - the floor or person, she wasn't sure - but when she opened her eyes, the angel was indeed very surprised. She raised her hand in a half-hearted wave.
"Oh. Hello, demon."

He rubbed the spot on his arm the thrown phone, surprisingly hard, had hit. He shot a glare over at her that he hoped said seriously? “Ok…Jumpy. Don’t scare, sneak up, or surprise her unless I want to be beat up by her. Strongly noted…” Asher said to himself as he ended the phone call before rubbing the spot a couple more times. After that it just stung a little. He ran his hand down his face and put his hands back into the front jean pockets. He gained a lazy stance and manner as he walked closer to her. When he spoke, he seemed almost tired of her already. “Ok jumpy… Just a few things before we head anywhere. Impressive throwing arm, just be more careful. Last thing I need is getting stabbed by a jumpy girl that scares easily because she threw a kitchen knife at me. Ouch, that throw hurts and that’s not my name. I thought angels were supposed to be against hurting people. But I guess that doesn’t apply to demons or for that matter, anything that shows their face to them from hell. The name’s Asher.” He said before looking over her and eyeballing what clothes size would probably fit her.

Asher started walking over to a clothing store, the same clothing store he found his clothes at. “Oh and you were struggling with your phone. I watched you struggle for a couple minutes to get into it.” Asher called over his shoulder with a smirk on his face before gesturing for her to follow him. He stopped and waited for her as he continued speaking, this time with a sarcastic tone in his voice and a matching smile on his face before it dropped to a meh face. “Don’t worry! You're not sticking out that much! If we were back in the 80’s. Lucifer… you angels are behind the times by a couple decades aren’t you?” He pinched his nose bridge and sighed as if he couldn’t believe that the supposed creators of the world were so behind on the times. But he wasn’t that surprised, he honestly expected them to be behind a couple centuries. “Clearly I’m not wearing a hat. It doesn’t sit right and looks weird on me.” He said as he made a devil horn gesture by his forehead, hoping she at least knew what the gesture mean’t. He continued speaking, slightly annoyed that she thought that he didn’t know much about the place they were now expected to survive in now. “I know much more about this place than the angel counsel clearly does. Who do you think started World War 1, or whatever you guys call that big population increase you guys had in the beginning of the 20th century. Me. Technically I planted the idea that kicked off the war but that’s not as impressive as saying that you started a world consuming war.” Asher talked about starting a world war like it was nothing, light work even, even though it was one of his biggest things he’d stirred up here. Almost like he was shrugging it off. He was still proud of that and made sure that pride came across in at least an undertone when he spoke about it. “Now come on. we’ve got to find you at least something different that doesn’t scream outdated or ‘I’m from the 80’s!’” Asher added an overly dramatic excited tone when he said the part about the 80’s.

Iris' eyes widened in panic and she waved her hands frantically in front of her face.
"I'm so sorry! Super sorry, I really didn't mean too! Sorry!" she trailed off, still repeating apologies. She glanced at his arm. "Is it okay? And I didn't mean to hit you! I am really nice, I promise, it was an accident. A-and my name's Iris." She finally stopped apologising, letting Asher speak. Nodding, she quickly went over to pick her phone up from the floor. She held it gently as if it was live and peered down at it. The screen had a small crack running through it but it looked okay otherwise. Iris tapped the screen just in case and it instantly lit up. Letting out a tiny sigh of relief, she pocketed the phone and hurried to follow Asher into the shop. As he walked, she finally took in what he looked like. No giant horns, no glowy eyes, no weapons, no overgrown teeth. In fact, he looked very normal.
"We're not that far behind," she commented quietly as she looked at the clothes on the racks. "The Counsel is actually very up to date about everything on Earth. I just... happened to miss a few meetings." It was only a small white lie but it still felt horrible coming out her mouth. She missed every. Single. Meeting. She only managed to just get there in time today for an assistant to brief her about some of the most important points.
Iris looked over at him. Then she walked over, reached up and gently patted his head to cover up his horns better. Turning around, she immediately regretted it. She wasn't thinking again. Nobody wants their head patted! Where were the ground splitting earthquakes when she needed one? "You should wear a hat," she told him, trying to keep her voice level. "It'd help hide them better. And I'm sure there's something comfortable and nice enough to wear. I can help you find one too!" Her fingers reached out and brushed against the clothes as she walked past. They felt much softer than whatever she was wearing now. Asher continued to talk, the subject now being the first world war. That yanked Iris out of her daydreams. A horrified look spread over her face.
"You? You started World War 1? That's horrible! And you called me mean!" she whisper-yelled to him. She tried her best to make her voice sound firm and angry, crossing her arms. She probably looked silly. Asher looked so unbothered as he spoke. "Once you're done with your sentence on Earth then I'm sure you'll also be horrified when you look back at the terrible things you've done." Done talking, Iris skipped forward while trying to act professional to look for clothes that didn't "scream outdated or 'I'm from the 80s!' "
Her gaze skimmed the aisles quickly as she searched for something specific. Eyes settling on what she was looking for, Iris smiled and rushed over to it. It was a simple light purple sweater.
"This," she said, grinning at Asher. "I want this one." She grabbed it off the rack, slightly giddy, and held it up to the demon's face. "How do we pay for it? Do you have any money on you?"

After the angel turned around after patting his head to adjust his hair, he smirked a bit as he tried to withhold a teasing comment about. Who was he kidding, he had to poke fun at her at least a little especially after that. He made his voice sound shocked when he talked again, poking fun at her just a little while his smirk remained on his face. “I’m surprised you were even able to reach. With you being significantly shorter than me and all.” After that he let silence fall between the two, feeling perfectly comfortable in it. It didn’t last long but at least it was something, allowing him to focus his whole attention on searching for something. “Oh I bet I’ll think I was a horrible demon for following my instincts after all this.” Asher spoke again, sounding sarcastically as he looked around and tried to find a baseball hat or beanie or both. He looked over at her to see what she found, noticing the purple sweater in her hand before he went back searching. “You're gonna want to pair that with jeans or leggings…” His voice trailed off a bit as he questioned if leggings was what human girls wore. When Asher spoke again, he sounded more sure of himself but also bored. “Or shorts of some kind if you think the heat outside is way too hot for you or to wear jeans, leggings, etc.” from across the store, he noticed a shelf that held hats and made his way over to it. “Just don’t worry about that jumpy. I’ve got a couple ways in mind to pay for your stuff.” He let a mischievous smirk spread on his face as he grabbed a baseball hat and beanie off the shelf.

When he walked back over to her, he put the baseball cap on as if to prove that a hat won’t cover his horns. It felt weird having one back on. He was able to wear hats in his younger days but now that his horns were longer than smaller bumps, it was just odd. It made him want to take it off as soon as possible. Asher couldn’t see his appearance but he could tell by the bill of the hat resting on the top of his head that it looked off. “This doesn’t sit right and makes it more obvious there’s something different about me. Hats don’t sit at this weird angle on people.” He switched hats and tried adjusting it so it went over his horns. Asher ended up walking over to a mirror to try to adjust it. He eventually got too frustrated with the hat and gave up. Not only did It look all weird and stretched out from the side, it kept coming off his horn tips. He went back to the hat shelf with both hats and put them back. He ran his hand through his hair and used the mirror to adjust his hair so his horns couldn’t be seen unless someone looked really closely at him.

As he waited for her, he looked through the clothes before remembering some old concert tickets in his wallet. He pulled out his wallet and went to the register to see if he could borrow a pen. When he asked the lady for it, he made sure to put on his most charming smile just in case. The lady gladly gave him a pen and with a thank you to her, he walked away with it. When he was far enough, he pulled out the tickets and started scribbling what could have been doodles to someone else. Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t just doodles. He placed the tickets in some out of sight and hidden spots with a smile on his face. “Even if I can’t do anything noticeable with jumpy over there, I can still do some smaller, basic, and more hidden things.” He thought to himself. He walked up to Iris with a relaxed demeanor and his phone out briefly to check the time before he spoke up. “You almost done? It’s getting late and I’m guessing you won’t want to go shopping for food on the first night?” He made himself seem innocent and like he hadn’t placed tickets around the place that were supposed to release smoke into the building any minute now.

"I'm not that short," Iris muttered, light pink in embarrassment. She looked around the shop. Humming quietly, she walked over a little to see the other part of the shop. Glancing over at him, her mind whirred with the possibilities of what he could have meant by many ways to pay. Was he going to steal them? Iris eyed him suspiciously, scrunching up her nose in thought. No, he looked a little too innocent at that time. It would probably be better to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Iris saw what he meant by the hats looking strange on his head. They did sit at a weird angle. "You're right, it'd be better to not wear a hat after all. Maybe we could get one custom made so it'll fit perfectly," she suggested softly.
"I think I'll wear leggings. They look okay." She took a pair she thought was about her size and headed back over to wear Asher was. Except he was gone. Iris peered around the corner and spotted him talking to the lady at the register. She smiled brightly as she handed something over to him. It was probably some change. Maybe he was just paying for the clothes. Asher even had a smile on his face too. Happiness fluttered in Iris' chest. It looked like she was already being a good influence on him. Then he turned his back to her. Narrowing her eyes, she focused on what he was doing but it was hard to see what he was doing. He moved a bit further away before coming backed with the same relaxed demeanor.
Iris nodded. "Yeah, I'm done. We do need food though; I'm hungry. Have you payed?" Just as the sentence left her mouth, Iris could smell something strange. Is it just me or did it just get foggy in here? Wait...is that smoke?
She turned to Asher, eyes wide. "Was that you?"
The smoke was starting to fill the shop. The smoke alarms went off and Iris winced at the sudden loud sound. The lady at the front, along with the other few customers, rushed out the door. A kid even started crying in fear. Iris, and Asher she guessed, would've probably been fine if they stayed inside. But they had to blend in, didn't they?
Grabbing his wrist, Iris tugged Asher along with her free hand. When they got outside, Iris watched the humans. They were all fine, just scared. Iris gave her best fake cough like one man was doing. Turning her head, she frowned at Asher. It was hard to act angry for once. So very hard. If he could start wars then why couldn't she just reprimand him? Oh right, because she was an angel and he was a demon. It was embedded in him to cause chaos when he could and Iris was too soft to watch him properly. How was he a better demon than she was at being an angel? Iris recounted everything she'd done in just the past hour or so: hitting Asher (by accident but still), being rude to him (also an accident), and now she'd technically stolen the outfit in her arms. It was practically confirmed that Asher hadn't payed for it.
What in the heavens were the Council thinking when they chose me? she thought. She remembered hearing a rumour a few days prior but she refused to believe it. There was no way any angel, forget a whole council of them, could ever think like that.
"That wasn't very nice. You scared them." She gestured vaguely behind her. Sighing, both in exhaustion and disappointment, she stared at the ground. "We should head to the house. And probably return these clothes." Iris thought for a moment. "Or at least pay for them tomorrow. I'm sure there's much more money at the house. Plus some food."
