Moonlgiht tossed and turned, trying to fall asleep, but couldn't. If only I had done something else...too late now...there's nothing anyone else could have done either.... She sat up, hanging her head. Now the pups Solar and Volcan might have ever had...will never exist... Moonlgiht exited the den and stared up at the moon and stars. Are you up there, Volcan...? She wondered.

Vax said: Ash didn't sleep, couldn't sleep. The loss of Volcan was already hitting hard, but Ash couldn't save her. She didn't save her. If Ash hadn't tried, if another healer tried, would Volcan still be alive? Ash walked out of the den, and sat in the middle of camp by Volcan's body, "I'm sorry... I couldn't save.. you" Ash stayed there
Venna was also having trouble sleeping. The cricket lullaby that usually pulled her under now sounded noisy and abbrasive. She stood, quietly slipping out of the den only to see Ash sitting outside. She stopped, staring at the other she-wolf. "Are you grieving, too?" There was a note of incredulity to her voice.

Trackstar slowly starts to get up making sure to be careful on her injured leg, limps over to the food stash and grabs a hare from the pile and lays back down tarring into it and then making sure she didn't miss one last peice. She wonders what do I do now?? I can't go on a run since my leg is injured and I can't go hunting, I'm so bored. She rests her head on her paws looking depressed and sad.

Moonlight turned her head towards Venna, then realized she wasn't talking to her, but Ash. "Oh...I didn't notice either of you were there." She said to them. She looked back up at the stars and sat down, giving a moment of respect to Volcan and the other deceased wolves that might have been looking down at them. I'm sorry... Moonlight thought, taking a moment to grieve.

Ash turned to Vienna and Moonlight. "Yes..." She turned her head down and tears welled up in her troubled eyes. She looked back to Venna and Moonlight, "I miss her...I could have saved her. But I failed. I failed her. I failed the pack." Tears streamed down her face, Ash's voice was soft as a whisper.

Venna couldn't control her temper any longer. "No, you couldn't have! You can't 'fail' something that's already doomed. We're doomed. Stars and saints, we're doomed and all anyone can do is cry." She spat the word like it was a sin and began to pace in agitation. "Either Solar gets a new mate and continues the bloodline, or he doesn't and you all let the pack die. Because this pack system is stupid, don't you understand? It dooms all of us, eventually. It dooms this pack's legacy." She whipped around to face the other two she-wolves. "Haven't you ever thought about your legacy?"

"Venna why look so angry when this is a time to remeber our alpha..." Ember said calmly. She then turned to Solar who was still grieving at the loss of his mate "Solar she isn't gone forever she will always stay in your heart, the packs heart as long as we remember her.." Ember put her paw on Solars chest, then walked away to go hunting.
