Iris was headed to school. She knew she would be late this time.

" Shit." she cursed as she sat down in her seat five minutes later, her head between her arms, and in the table I should have just said yes she thought not seeing if her next door class mate watch her. She was totally stress out about the math test. But why should she if her main focus was on work? Her life was a mess but she knew there was one person who might be able to help. her class mate next to her. But how would she ask for help?

She then looked up and looked t him " Hey... could we talk during lunch?" she asked looking at duke with a little smile.

"Yeah of course" duke said, class was finished and duke walked with Iris to the football ground it was quiet there and they both could talk. Duke for the first time in his life was excited that a girl wants to speak to him, he continued to confirm this girl was special but he wasn;t going to tell her that

Iris separated from her little group before walking to where she knew where Duke would be. " There you are. Made me walk all this way to just get to you" she chuckled sitting beside him on the grass. Her eys fixed on him " So... about the little party..." she rubbed the back of her neck nervously. " I talked with my mother and she said it was ok, since its a celebration. But I need to get ome before eleven pm."

" yeah thats great by 11 you ll be there for sure, so do you think we ll win on saturday I m pretty nervous about the game. It's a big game everyone in town is going to be here" as soon as duke finished speaking he heard someone screaming his name from behind him he turned around and saw one of the popular girls.

"oh shit" he said to himself. Duke stood up and the girl jumped on him hugging him. Duke looked at Iris confused dont know what to say.

" yeah thats great by 11 you ll be there for sure, so do you think we ll win on saturday I m pretty nervous about the game. " Girls... he's mine. " Iris chuckled " get back to working on that sheet I gave you yesterday. " she sat closer to him, and gently, put her hand ontop of his. " I think we better get out of here before anyone else trieds to take you away from me. You kidding? We better win. My mother depends on it. If we dont, I wont go to the college wanna go to."

" yeah let s go for a spin and go near the lake " duke grabbed iris and kissed her infront of the girls " and she s mine " duke said to the other girls even some of the boys saw him kissing her and one them shouted "LET S GO DUKE" duke smiled, grabbed iris's hands and walked to his car

Did he just fucking k-kiss me she thought as she blushed deep red and followed him to his car " Wait.. I wanna take mine.. I'll uh.. follow you. " she said nervously. she kissed his cheek before running off to her car and got in. She had to take a few deep breathes before she could even get out of her space and wait for Duke to get out of his. But soon enough, she began to follow him to the Lake.

By the time she reached it, she found a place to park and shut the car off before getting out and walked to the lake, looking at it. Her hair moving with the slight wind. " Its beautiful here, Duke." she said looking at him when he reached side.

"Yeah it is, I used to come here a lot with my mom while she was still alive" duke closed his eyes. He turned looking at Iris " I live with my dad now since mom died he changed, he drinks everyday he is always drunk, I dont remember him being sober." A tear fell from his eyes and he wiped it. "My mom was everything for I never loved a woman the way I loved her" Duke reached in his back pocked and took a cigarette and lighted it.

" Whoa whoa whoa... Duke" Iris said putting her hand onto his. " please dont." She looked at him before thinking of the best way to help him. She chuckled before leaning into him and kissed him
